EP 160 – SMALL TOWN MURDERS

“Why did you take me from my other family?” This question is asked by Jacob to his mother, who is obviously speechless. What do you do when your son insists he has had another family, and can even recount specific details about his past life and his other family? Well if you’re Rachel, you hunt them down and try and re-connect them. Donna explores this extraordinary story that unfolded in the early 2000s in the midwest.

Kerri’s story starts at 36:41 – It’s set in the small town of Iola, Kansas in 1982 where an uncharacteristically large number of murderers are happening. It all starts at the fair, where there’s a young boy seriously injured and another nearby acting suspiciously. Bodies are dumped, drowned, stabbed and raped. But just how many of them are Nathanial “Yorkie” Smith behind? And why isn’t he in prison already?
